Hello there,
Does anyone have any suggestions for curing sugar cravings?  I'm very sensitive to sugar.  I eat a raw meat, raw back fat (suet?), and raw liver mix.  I add noma shoyu for taste (if you have any better/healthier suggestions than noma shoyu let me know).  The noma shoyu makes it more pallitable, but I'm afraid the salty flavor of noma shoyu makes me crave a sweet after.  My sweet after has been the a gree Kombucha drink and an orange Lara Bar called cashew cookie.  It's all raw, but I know it's not the best.  Thanks ahead of time for your suggestions.

The less sugars you eat, the better. Eliminate salt too.

Try to eat simple unmixed foods, avoid mixed nuts and dried fruits like Lara bars as much as possible, dried fruits and nuts have totally different digestion times and may cause bloating and gas. When eating a meal try less variety as possible during that meal. Sometimes its just psychology, what helps me is only eating plants I can gather myself. I eat how much plants I want, including sweet things, as long as I did the gathering.

seaweeds, such as dulse, focus/bladderwrack, or kelp, are not only high in minerals but also high in polysaccharides:

~ mineral deficiency may be a possible cause of cravings
~ polysaccharides are carbs, fill the stomach (if large pieces are soaked in water), & are not glucose or fructose per se

oops, i failed to mention 2 more things:

~ seaweeds, being mucilaginous, do not harm the lining of the digestive tract the way vegetables & fruits do

~ stevia leaves
if you like, you can eat anything (incl. meat) & drink anything (incl. plain water) with ground stevia leaves
unlike the stevia extract which comes in small plastic bottles, stevia leaves are sold in bulk, look green, & contain polysaccharides

I like seaweed too.  I use some kombu strips like pasta.  I like wakame for salad.  What is really nice is that they are dried and can be stored long and eaten any time.  Some people fret over possible toxins like arsenic in some seaweeds - hijiki is notorious in this regard.  How do you feel about this, and what are the seaweeds you consume?
