awesome thanks! Im determined to go cold turkey when I do this so I wanted to make sure I had some facts straight first. I find it interesting how ther is a detox process, maybe this is why people who have had raw food never do it again cause their body detoxes and they unknowingly think it will go on forever. What kind of side effects should I see? Also what kind of carbs fruits, veggies or both and what kinds typical celery and carrots or exotic ones?
Yes, people suddenly switching to raw might be turned off it because of such initial detoxes - mind you, people who turn to RVAF diets usually do so as a last resort after all other diets have failed them, so they're usually quite patient.
As for side-effects, they will vary greatly from individual to individual. Other than those 2-3 rather awkward 2-3 days of green diarrhea, I had a minor detox occurring once every 2 to 4 months, lasting from 2 to 7 days each, for the first couple of years or so. These detox episodes decreases in terms of severity, duration and frequency until they finally stopped after c. 2 years. But others may have more serious detoxes or even no detox at all (I've heard that long-term fasting can remove the threat of detox, but I definitely don't recommend it as it can be very, very dangerous indeed).
Sometimes people find they get an allergy to a specific raw food, such as raw dairy or raw veggie-juice, so not all painful symptoms are genuine detoxes. I define a genuine detox as being of usually a minor to moderate nature, with one feeling slightly better after the detox-period than before it; if one just feels steadily worse afterwards than before the detox, then it's no detox but something else.
