Any of you in or around Chicago?  Would love to eat meat with others.  Because I'm a newbie, still a little nervous about trying certain varieties of meats... if I eat it with someone else, might be more comfortable taking the plunge.  Also want to exchange tips on local farmers' markets, etc.

Keep a look at this thread to be notified of Aajonus's appearances across the US:-

http://www.rawpaleoforum.com/primal-diet/aajonus'-appearances-and-primal-potlucks/
(You could alternatively e-mail Aajonus to ask him to put you on his mailing-list so that you get such updates directly, without having to check that thread).

I've been told that there are plenty of minor, unofficial Primal Potlucks in many States such as New York, but there's no info on them online, right now. I've been informed that the best way to meet up with such local Raw Animal Foodists/Primal Dieters, is to go to 1 of the major Aajonus appearances, meet with the people there, and arrange further meetings(usually 1 person will host the others at their home,  and everyone brings their own raw foods, much like what happens with Aajonus' gatherings).
I Do remember that Aajonus visits Chicago at least once a year, most likely more often than that, as I've sometimes read Aajonus' updates re workshops in which he mentions going to Chicago.

Of course, if you ever move to the Los Angeles area, you could expect far more frequent Primal Potlucks to happen.

Thanks Tyler!  I actually went to one of Aajonus' lectures recently and spoke to a couple people.  Unfortunately most people live an hour or more outside of the city, so it's not very convenient for meeting up.  Also, even though I'm only just easing my way into this way of eating, I was more experienced than a lot of people who attended.  Most hadn't eaten raw meat.

I am part of a co-op where I can get raw milk, veggie juice, and meat on occasion.  I picked up a carpaccio from the co-op (a woman in IL sells ceviches and carpaccio in accordance with Aajonus' diet) and when someone mentioned I eat raw meat, there was a gasp from a couple people picking up their milk.  It didn't really bother me and I found it kind of amusing, but even at a raw dairy co-op I can't seem to find people who are open-minded enough to try this out.

Ah well, I shall endure.

Maybe I will move to the west coast  =)

What I find amusing is when people(such as my father) have a love of smelly, aged, raw cheeses and a loathing of pasteurised cheeses, yet when they react with horror at the thought of someone like me eating fresh, raw meat - I mean, the equivalent of aged, raw cheeses is rotting(raw) meat.

1 idea I have re meetups is to suggest that members of this forum who have the right location/size of house/flat for such gatherings, should put up a notice here in the personals giving their rough location(eg:-1 hour's drive from airport or whatever), then anyone interested in a meetup could put their name down for any possible future gathering. When enough people sign up, the host/original poster could set up a date for a "RAF Potluck" and so on.

What I would, though, eventually like to see is what the raw vegans have which is raw food meetup forums for each US State plus 1 for most major countries around the world. What I find so annoying is that Aajonus has estimated that there are c.20,000 Primal Dieters in North America alone(I believe that to be a rather conservative estimate not exaggerated, given various reports I've read etc.), and yet there's no system in place for them to meet up. I get the impression that Aajonus actively discourages such gatherings as he prefers people to turn up to his workshops instead so that he gets his money.
